The Irish Writers Centre presents a masterclass with Kevin Barry at The Dock. This masterclass is part of a new initiative, Writers in the Regions, an in-person masterclass series aimed at broadening reach into the vibrant writing communities around the country and bringing expertise and experience to writers at different stages of their writing journey.
This masterclass is open to writers with any level of experience, whether absolute beginners or more practiced writers. Kevin Barry will talk a little about his own work and his approach to writing fiction, plays and screenplays. The class will then open out to a conversation about the craft of writing in general, about characters, setting, plot and style, and about the business of writing and publishing, too.
Kevin Barry is the author of four novels, most recently The Heart In Winter, and three short story collections, most recently That Old Country Music. He also writes plays and screenplays. His work has been translated into more than twenty languages. He lives in County Sligo.
