The pleasure angler seeking large open waters with the promise of outstanding bags of bream and roach can choose from the wider stretches of the River Shannon


Salmon fishing opens on January 1st on a handful of rivers and after that the remainder of rivers on various dates in February, March, April and May.  The majority of rivers close on September 30th but some rivers remain open for sea trout fishing until October 12th.  Game fish species include wild salmon, grilse, sea trout and brown trout.


Many pike anglers see Leitrim as the place to visit for pike angling where its many lakes and canals produce top specimen pike.

Put & Take

Hidden away between the rolling hills of picturesque South Leitrim  Lough Rowan is a 100 acre put and take fishery managed by Rinn-Shannon District Angling club.


Leitrim is an anglers paradise and many of the towns have angling services
